Qorvus Wireless Mesh Technology Heats Up Bourbon Street

Article courtesy of onlypunjab.com

A new wireless network using Qorvus mesh technology is being rolled out in the downtown New Orleans area by Superior Wireless, a leading Louisiana WISP. The system has been deployed for only a couple of weeks but it's already seeing heavy use from the downtown convention center, and soon will be expanded to provide coverage to many of New Orleans' downtown areas as well as the historic French Quarter.

The major municipal buildings in Fayette, AL as well as the surrounding areas are being served by 10 Qorvus Qnode mesh nodes, used as master distribution cells mounted on top of each building. Both wired and wireless clients are served by the installed system which is owned and operated by Froglevel Networks, a leading 4-county ISP in Northwestern Alabama.

Stevenson, WA, is using 12 Qorvus Qnode mesh nodes to deliver direct-to-laptop connectivity for tourists as well as MeshCam™ IP cameras to provide itinerant video monitoring throughout the downtown area. The network is owned and operated by the Stevenson Business Association. The primary camera is being used to show the historic downtown and spectacular Columbia river views from the county courthouse, and a second portable MeshCam system is used to broadcast events over the internet. A live feed from the courthouse camera can be seen here: http://www.skamania.org/stevensoncam.htm

The Qorvus Qnode system offers excellent performance and a sophisticated built-in management system that can be seen in operation here: http://www.qnode.net/

More details on the Qnode and MeshCam systems can be seen on our website at http://www.qorvus.net/
